The World Ability Federation is in the process of developing an exciting and unique global resource pertaining to disabilities and invites other charities, corporations and interested parties to join the project as founding sponsors and partners.

Our mission is to inspire the creation of new abilities and opportunities and improve the quality of life for people who have a disability by offering educational programs, public awareness campaigns, a resource and reference library, employment assistance, and by providing scholarships, grants and fellowships for academic excellence.  Through our innovative programs, the World Ability Federation has directly affected the expansion of the World Ability Industry, an industry pledged to ensure that an individual's disability will never mean more than their ability.

Our initial program, the World Ability Awards Gala, is a spectacular and opulent event like the Academy Awards.  The World Ability Awards have become the industry-wide peer review standard of excellence within the Ability Industry.  The awards uniquely pay tribute to the thousands of individuals and organizations worldwide that improve the lives of people who have a disability..  Eighteen awards are presented to laureates who have made the most outstanding accomplishments amongst their peers within this industry.  As part of the nomination process, the World Ability Federation receives thousands of nominations from around the world for outstanding contributions being made to improve the lives of people with disabilities.  As a result of this process, we garner the most current information regarding the ‘best of the best’ in those areas of interest to those 57 million Americans and 1.2 billion people worldwide who have a disability as well as people who are interested in understanding those disabilities.

This has placed the World Ability Federation in the unique position to have developed extensive and impartial information pertaining to disabilities and the products, services and programs that positively affect them.  We receive information about the best product and treatment possibilities pertaining to disabilities and other vital information about the latest achievements in technology, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation.  We also learn of the best adaptive technologies and accommodations as well as information on the best, educational material, legal issues and even the best financial resources for support.  Even job opportunities are presented to us as we learn of the organizations who have the most outstanding employment practices.

Now, the World Ability Federation has embarked on a new initiative to build the world's first multi-discipline independent resource library which will make all of our information available to those people living with or interested in disabilities.  We call this the Ability Library.  This is the first time that a charitable organization set out to organize the volumes of critical and current information that can improve the lives of all people who live with a disability.

The World Ability Federation is working with disability experts from the University of Illinois as well as experts in library management, and other specialists to design and develop the Ability Library.  We are committed to making sure that this important and powerful tool is able to help all those who have need for the latest and most comprehensive resources available.

In addition to the academic experts, we will develop the technical infrastructure for the library.  Corporate donors have already generously joined our effort by donating servers, workstations and special access browser software for the library.

We are now searching for a principal sponsor to work directly with the World Ability Federation and our partners to create the first independent, authoritative online research tool for people with disabilities to gain direct and immediate access to those who are committed to providing products and services that will help them to adapt to the world around them and focus on their abilities.

The World Ability Federation is committed to creating this extraordinary library, and with the help of our partners throughout the Ability Industry, this will be yet another tool that will bring people together to make the world and all it has to offer available to all people of all abilities.
