About the Awards
acknowledges those individuals and organizations that help to bring focus on a person's ability rather than their disability. We honor individuals who remind us that we all have different abilities and we are more correctly known for what we do and can do rather than what we cannot do. This single event brings together government leaders, corporate America, philanthropists, and those organizations who work directly to support people with disabilities into one arena with a common mission…to celebrate the achievements of the World Ability Industry and to directly encourage improvements in the lives of people who have a disability. Each year, the gala is held in a spectacluar ballroom. Hundreds of leaders from corporate America, from city, state, and federal government, and from all those great organizations that serve people who have a disability come together to recognize the accomplishments of those people who create new abilities for people who have a disability.
This event placed all those who are in a position to help people with disabilities get together on grand scale. Eighteen awards are presented to those individuals and organizations who had distinguished themselves among their peers as having made an extraordinary contribution to helping improve the quality of life of those Americans who have a disability. It is truly a landmark event and has received accolades throughout the industry as an important event "whose time had come."
Over 100 years ago, Alfred Nobel formed the Nobel Prize and the results in those disciplines recognized by Nobel are staggering….even today. Mr. Nobel had a passion for science, literature, and world peace. Our passion is to help people who have a disability. Over the past several years, volunteers from the World Ability Federation have committed their lives to the establishment of new abilities for thousands of individuals who have a disability or special need. Our work has reached a new plateau as we unveiled to the world this extraordinary awards gala.
The World Ability Awards holds such great potential to create an excitement and fervor in the industry of helping people who have disabilities, the world ability industry, that its continued growth can accomplish many world changing goals:
- More individuals and organizations will join the movement to help people who have a disability.
- Healthy competition between individuals, organizations, and even countries will evolve to create new levels of freedom for the disabled unlike anything that the world has ever known or dreamed of knowing.
- A media frenzy showcasing the work of thousands of individuals and organizations committed to helping people with disabilities… will take place this year and continue on an annual basis.
- Improved PR opportunities, volunteer pools, funding opportunities, collaboration, cross promotion, and distribution channels will become readily available to the thousands of organizations that make up the "World Ability Industry."
Just like the Nobel Prize, the World Ability Awards does more than acknowledge the achievements of the past. As this event grows in popularity and prestige, the World Ability Awards will serve as the catalyst to grow the industry and improve the lives of people with disabilities for centuries to come.
