SEPTEMBER 9, 2005 - MENDENHALL, MS - The World Ability Federation is working in cooperation with American Red Cross, federation members, and other organizations to provide relief to Hurricane Katrina victims, and set the stage to establish a one million sq. ft. “drop-off” zone for others to bring needed supplies for the victims.

With road blocks just two miles further south preventing access to Hurricane Relief victims in central Mississippi, the World Ability Federation has delivered a large truckload of much-needed supplies to Mendenhall, MS.  The effort was to help establish Mendenhall as an “official drop-off zone” inviting deliveries from unaffected areas and pickups from affected areas.

Mendenhall, MS is one of the last areas that is accessible by car or truck directly from the unaffected areas in the continental United States.  As such, it makes a perfect location for relief providers to drop off supplies to be distributed by Red Cross or FEMA or to be picked up by individuals or families from the affected areas.”

On September 9, 2005, The World Ability Federation in cooperation with federation members and friends delivered a truckload of requested supplies to Mendenhall, Mississippi including wheelchairs and other products for people with disabilities, food, water, cleaning supplies, baby supplies, and clothing.

Mendenhall Mayor, Randall Neely, greatfully acknowledged the effort.  "Mendenhall is a small town and has areas of poverty that sufferred wind damage and lost both water and power.  While most of these vital services have been restored, the people still lack some of the basic needs they require to clean up after Katrina.  We are greatful for whatever help you can provide."

Supplies delivered by this effort have been stored for local distribution and for pickup by Red Cross, FEMA, or victims.  On September 10, 2005 plans to establish a one million sq. ft. warehouse in Mendenhall, MS got underway.  This effort is spearheaded by FEMA, Red Cross and local community leaders will facilitate getting urgently needed supplies and equipment to those areas affected by Hurricane Katrina.

The World Ability Federation is grate to have been able to play a part in the important effort of getting relief to those in need.  The Federation is comprised of those individuals and organizations who help individuals with special needs.  Their support made this effort possible.
