2005 Archives
2005 was a transitional year for the World Ability Federation. As we continue to innovate new and groundbreaking initiatives to build the Ability Industry, we unveiled some brand new programs this year.
Early in the year, we continued to build the plan, promote, and judge the World Ability Awards while simultaneously searching for way to bring exposure to a much larger audience...what reaches thousands should touch millions. As such, we spent a great deal of time learning the ropes of television broadcasting.
In July, we gathered together for the summer rooftop party and celebrated the 15th Anniversary of the signing of the Americans With Disabilities Act and shared the future of the World Ability Federation with our friends and supporters in a warm moonlit evening in downtown Chicago.
Later in the year, we formed the "Empathy Challenge" and offered able-bodied individuals the opportunity to somewhat experience the world as people with disabilities do. The cDifferent "blindfolded 5K run" in Brentwood, California was the first of its type and officially launched our series of Empathy Challenge events.
When Katrina struck, the employees of the World Ability Federation, NFP stepped away briefly from the mission of the federation to bring supplies to the victims in the hurricane ravaged areas of Mississippi.
2005...a year for change and renewal and gratitude.
